Bruce Springsteen's 1950’s Fender Esquire
Bruce Springsteen’s 1950’s butterscotch blonde Fender Esquire is the cover star from his Born to Run album and made subsequent appearances on the album covers of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Live 1975-85, Human Touch and Greatest Hits. Purchased second-hand in the early 70’s, popular opinion is divided concerning the year of manufacture of this famous Esquire and as we're not experts and to avoid offending anyone, we'll say it's either a ‘53 or a ’54 model. With the addition of the neck pickup the single-pickup Esquire has the appearance of a two-pickup Telecaster. It’s illustrated here with the three-saddle bridge and steel base plate from the ’50s and early ’60s and the replacement tuners which are visible on the Born to Run album cover.
